Why Online Marine Auctions are The Way Forward

With increasing numbers of pre-owned craft flooding the market and stagnant yacht sales, an innovative yacht brokerage model is needed.  It was part of the unease I had when I was working in brokerage; I knew that listing a boat for sale for a client in the usual way, didn’t really help – the traditional model was not working particularly well.

If you take a look around marinas across Asia there are many, many boats on the market, and quite a few of them, for much longer than a year.  That’s why, when I reached out to join the Marine Auctions Online group through an agency with BASCO, we were pretty excited by the results that had been achieved.

Online Boat Auctions are the way forward

It creates sales momentum – excitement, viewings, offers, and most importantly, sales. With previous experience showing that 70% of boats for sale by auction are sold within 7 days after the auction event, bringing this service to Asia seemed like a really useful service to provide to boat owners and clients.

Additionally, Online Marine Auctions provides a compelling solution to two critically important points for boat owners who are selling:

  1. The ability to bring more than one buyer to the negotiating table.  Having several interested parties at the same time will bring a higher sale price than the traditional model of just having one potential buyer negotiating with you in response to a fixed-price advertisement.
  2. The future of buying is online.  With the rapid increase in buying online, the idea of selling large ticket items or luxury items with no conditions attached to the sale is compelling.  Having a marine survey completed before you list your boat for sale removes risk and uncertainty and helps attain a higher sale price.

Selling your boat is easier and faster with Online Marine Auctions, on the way forward.
