Why Boats Sell Faster by Online Auction

Its success has a lot to do with the short sales cycle. A big advantage of the online sales process is you have a clear time frame to work to.

The online boat auction date is within 6-8 weeks of listing. You’ll get feedback from the market within that time. Provided you have done the right amount of awareness raising.

There are two reasons why boats do not sell.

1. Price

There is a disadvantage with the traditional way of marketing a boat with a price. The seller has no idea of when the boat might sell or even get an offer.
Instead, you market the boat without a price. You will have a feedback or offers within 8-10 weeks of listing the boat for sale. A clear time frame and certainty of an outcome are very appealing to most boat owners.

2. Awareness

With the traditional brokerage model, there is minimal advertising on your vessel. Your boat is one of many being advertised and shown.
There is also little motivation for buyers. You wait for them to turn up and a price reduction is encouraged to create buyer interest in the activity. In contrast, the online boat auction provides a catalyst to promote buyer interest.
There is extensive advertising focused only on the online auction vessels. You maintain control over the marketing and awareness raising program which
is maximized to achieve a successful sale.

Marine Auctions Pty Ltd, has shown that 70% of boats sell within 7-days of the online auction date.
We are excited to bring this online auction service to Asia. Our first online auction happens in April, we’ll have more about this very soon!

As a client, who is planning to move away from Singapore mid-year, said to me last week “by the end of May, I will know. Then I can plan my next steps.” That certainty and peace of mind expressed by our client is satisfying for us.

As our purpose for BASCO is to provide: “Trusted and Independent Advice that takes Risk and Uncertainty out of Owning a Boat in Asia”
.

Have a great day… William Schick, BASCO Co-Founder.
